Flying to COLOGNE (CGN) Airport
-
The most convenient airport to arrive at is the Köln-Bonn Flughafen, known internationally simply as Cologne(CGN).
-
There are many direct flights from European cities, especially from budget airlines (Ryanair, Air Berlin...), but also from Lufthansa and other national carriers. There is a BUS service ( #SB60 ) to the Bonn Central Railway Station (Bonn Hauptbahnhof or Hbf). The journey takes about 34 minutes. A single ticket costs ca. EUR 8.00; the ticket is also valid for the onward journey from Bonn Hbf to the IGG (see below).
The cost of a TAXI to Bonn or the IGG is about EUR 45-50.
Flying to DUSSELDORF (DUS) and FRANKFURT (FRA) Airports
-
The Dusseldorf Airport offers direct train connections to the Bonn Central Station, which takes just over 1 hour.
-
Frankfurt Airport and Bonn are linked through a high-speed train connection (ICE) via the station Siegburg/Bonn. It takes about 40 minutes and often can be included in your air plane ticket if you book your flight via Frankfurt to Cologne (QKL). At Siegburg/Bonn you just go down the stairs and board the tram ( #66 ) to Bonn Hbf (about 25 minutes). A tram ticket (Preisstufe 3) for EUR 5.00 is needed. Some trams have vending machines inside. However, these do not accept notes.
