How to get to the MPIfR from Cologne

  Bonn is served most directly by Köln-Bonn Airport, with connections to major German and international (mostly European) airports.

There is an airport bus service available to Bonn Main Railway Station. You will find the bus stop in front of the airport main building (lower level). Airport bus No. 670 goes to BONN (note: No. 170 goes to Cologne). 

The trip to Bonn takes about 30 minutes (fare: € 5.80, including the fare for the follow-up trip from Bonn Main Bus Station to the MPIfR, bus No. 623 or 621).

Stay on the bus until it reaches its final stop, Bonn Main Bus Station, which is across the street from the Bonn Main Railway Station (Hauptbahnhof).

Arriving at Bonn Main Bus Station you can proceed either by bus (for which your have already paid) or just take a taxi (the taxi rank is in front of the Railway Station).

The Main Bus Station is opposite the Railway Station. There are 6 platforms numbered A to F. To MPIfR you take the bus No. 623 (direction LESSENICH; € 2.10) or 621 (direction DUISDORF Bf.; € 1.30) (both leaving from platform E). You should leave the bus at the stop Immenburg. The MPIfR is located on the opposite side of the street in the direction of the bus route.

The ticket can be bought either at one of the machines or in the bus. In the bus you should immediately cancel your ticket in one of the two yellow machines provided (also if it was bought from the driver!).
The various stops are normally, but not always, announced by the driver.

Credit cards are not accepted !!!!

  The are also taxi services available. The airport is located about 25 km distant from Bonn city. If you intend to take a taxi and you want to save money, call a taxi company located in Bonn. This is cheaper than to take a taxi which already stands at the airport!´

by Car

If you decide to rent a car by one of the rental car services, take the motor way #59 until you get on route #565 (direction: "Altenahr", "Koblenz") at "Autobahndreieck Bonn-Beuel".

Take the motor way exit Bonn-Endenich and turn right at the traffic lights (direction "Duisdorf").

Immediately before the next traffic lights turn right again. The street should be Auf dem Hügel and the institute is No. 69 (on the left side).

In case you miss the motor way exit and end up on route #565, but in opposite direction (to "Siegburg", "Frankfurt"), take the motor way exit Lengsdorf, go right at the exit, ~ 2.5 km to Endenich and turn left to the street Auf dem Hügel.
