Visa to enter Germany

Please check if you need a visa to enter Germany. If so, and if you require an official invitation in order to obtain the necessary visa, please indicate this on the registration form.

Registration

We request you to register for the meeting. Please fill in the registration form and send it by email to Ute Runkel as soon as possible, preferably before November 1st, 2005. Please arrange your travel to arrive in Bonn on the evening of the 27th November or in the early morning of the 28th November in order to attend the session for the beginning.

Hotel booking

We made a block reservation at the Stern Hotel Bonn, Markt 8, D-53111 Bonn. You should have booked your room by yourself giving code "MPIfR" in the reservation. You can book by phone (+49-228-72670), by fax (+49-228-7267125), or by email (info_at_sternhotel-bonn.de). Guaranteed prices are € 69 per night on the weekend (night from 27th to 28th) and € 90 during the week (V.A.T. and breakfast buffet included). These guaranteed conditions and also the block booking were valid until November 2, 2005. The hotel is located at the City Centre, in the main square (Marktplatz). From November 18th Bonn celebrates the Christmas Market (handcraft manufactures, Christmas sweets, hot wine and other local specialities) in the neighbouring streets at the City Centre, and you might consider to visit it.

Public transport

Getting to Bonn

The city centre is reachable from the nearest airport, Cologne/Bonn by the bus line 670 (see schedule, EUR 5.75, get out at bus stop "Markt" for the Stern Hotel). Please notice that some low cost airlines (German Wings, Hapag-Lloyd Express, EasyJet or Air Berlin) reach Bonn at fair prices from the main European airports without having to stay over a weekend. Flights in the winter season can be already booked. The next big airports to Bonn are Düsseldorf (80 kilometre to the North, direct trains to Bonn) and Frankfurt/Main (160 kilometre to the South, direct trains to Bonn through Koblenz or with high speed train + tramway via Siegburg). Taxis from/to the Cologne/Bonn airport would be about € 35 depending on the traffic.

Getting to the MPIfR

You can reach the MPIfR by public transport from the central bus station (at 300 m walk distance from the hotel, next to the main railway station) with the bus lines 621 (line towards Duisdorf Bf, bus stop "Immenburg", see schedule, € 1.30) and 623 (line towards Lessenich, bus stop "Immenburg", see schedule, € 2.10). A taxi ride from the hotel should not be higher than € 8.
