GMVA Session  Sep/Oct 2016

Dear GMVA Investigators and Schedulers,
 
 
Please find below Version 2.0 of the Block Schedule for the coming
Global 3mm VLBI session in Sept/Oct 2016. The projects which are
scheduled have been approved by the VLBA Scheduler and myself, on the
basis of the proposal reviews at NRAO and other GMVA observatories.
 
 
PI role in schedule making
--------------------------
Thomas Krichbaum will assist in making an integrated observing
schedule for the session, and PIs are asked to contact him, to specify
to what extent they wish to be involved in the schedule making for the
part of the schedule when their source(s) is (are) being observed.

The final, integrated schedule for the session will be made available
to the observatories by 15 SEPTEMBER, 2 weeks before the start of the
session on 29 SEPTEMBER.

Participating telescopes
------------------------
Unless otherwise indicated on the schedule, the European telescopes
("Eu" on the schedule) are:

   Effelsberg (Eb)
   Pico Veleta (Pv)
   Plateau de Bure phased array (Pb)
   Yebes-40m (Ys)
   Onsala-20m (On)
   Metsaehovi (Mh) (on a best-effort basis)

The telescopes available at the VLBA are: 
   VLBA  -NL -FD -LA -PT -KP -BR -OV -MK

Telescopes of the Korean VLBI Network (KVN) will take part in some
projects

The GBT will take part in project MM007A

The LMT will not be available for observations in this session.

The Noto 32m telescope will not be available to take part in 7mm VLBI
   support observations in this session.


Recording mode
--------------
All projects will be recorded at 2 Gbps (except at Plateau de Bure and
KVN, which will record 1 Gbps with compatible, overlapping frequency bands).

All observatories will record using MK5 disk systems, with correlation
at the Bonn DiFX software correlator.  MK5 disk availability, and VLBA
disk-change logistics will determine the fraction of the scheduled
time which can be spent recording data.  Walter Alef will make a final
decision on this when all the constraints have been considered.

Project MM006 will be observed at 94.6GHz and without VLBA-BR and VLBA-LA


Polarization
------------
All observations will use dual LHC+RHC polarization recording at those
telescopes where this is possible.
