Summary of the GMVA Session, Sep 24-26, 2015 ============================================ Stations participating in c152a: EB, PV, PdB, Ys, Mh Stations participating in c152b: EB, Ys, Mh, GB, 8xVLBA A ftp-fringetest performed on BLLAC at the beginning of c152a resulted in fringes to EB, PV, PdB, Ys, but not to Mh. The weather was moderate in EB, PV, good at PdB and raining at Mh. Observations are performed at 2 Gbps using the PFB mode. Metsahovi got a new 3mm receiver. ----------------------------------------- Detailed notes: Effelsberg: The weather was variable, starting with thick clouds in c152a and better towards the end of c152b. The were periods of lower cloud coverage in between. Tsys=180-300K, using RDBE backend. 24.9 21 UT thick clouds 25.9 01 UT improving, thin layers of clouds 25.9 10 UT thick clouds 25.9 19-21 UT focus was off by about 1 wavelength 26.9 00 UT clearing up 26.9 10 UT clear 26.9 19 UT clear, some scattered clouds 26.9 23 UT clear PdB: missed 1st scan, restart MK5A, recording done at 1 Gbps, using the old MK5 system (half bandwidth). Plateau de Bure is observing under good conditions with 6 antennas. Out reference antenna is on the N02 pad. Observed only c152a, in good weather. Pico Veleta: observed only c152a. Recording done using DBBC backend and MK5B recorder. Almost 20% of the scans lost due to the high elevation of the sources, see log (our software limit to observe is 83 deg). Yebes: did observe, recording with DBBC, weather was fine c152a: Tsys not during 17h00-20h30, due to problem with script problems with calibration system in c152b, hot load got stuck in the radiation path many times and the operators had to release it manually. No Tsys after 269.13h00 until end. Metsahovi: recording done using DBBC backend and MK5B recorder. c152a and c152b: It's partly cloudy at Metsähovi now. 25.9 7UT: The weather is improving, but the nights are very humid Pcal was switched on after scan no0077 We missed 9 scans, no0272-no0287, due to jive5ab not switching from bank A to bank B automatically Pointing done after the session, and got good pointing results for several sources GBT: The project C152B has started at Green Bank. All is running normally. Skies are mostly clear. Tsys is 120-160K. But, alas, the prediction is for rain showers tomorrow. Conditions were good at Green Bank for about the first 9 hours, after which there were cloudy and rainy conditions. VLBA: did not observe c151a For c152b: VERY LONG BASELINE ARRAY OBSERVING LOG -------------------------------------- Project: C152B Observer: Krichbaum, T.
