Dear Observatory Staff and Global 3mm VLBI PIs, Please find below draft Version 1 of the Block Schedule for the coming Global 3mm VLBI session in October. The projects which are scheduled have been approved by the VLBA Scheduler and myself, on the basis of the proposal reviews in Europe and at NRAO. The Effelsberg telescope will not be available for this session, and it seems likely that Plateau de Bure will also not be able to observe. I have therefore scheduled a short session, including only those projects which are time critical and for which useful data may still be obtained without these 2 telescopes. (If within the next 2 weeks it emerges that Plateau de Bure IS indeed available, then there are 3 further projects which could be scheduled from 1830(14/10) up to 0930(16/10) in Europe, 1530(16/10) at VLBA. I ask telescope schedulers to provisionally keep this time free in case of this eventuality.) Thomas Krichbaum will assist in making an integrated observing schedule for the session, and PIs are asked to contact him, to specify to what extent they wish to be involved in the schedule making for the part of the schedule when their source is being observed. Please contact him by 13th SEPTEMBER. The final, integrated schedule should ************** be made available to the observatories by 26th SEPTEMBER, 2 weeks before the start of the session on 12th OCTOBER. Antennas -------- The antennas available at the VLBA are NL,FD,LA,PT,KP,BR,OV,MK. The European telescopes ("Eu" on the block schedule) are Pico Veleta, Onsala-20m and Metsahovi. Note that Plateau de Bure and Effelsberg are not available this session. Recording mode -------------- All continuum projects will be observed with a recorded bit-rate of 512 Mb/s, since at 3mm wavelength the short atmospheric coherence is the main limitation to detection sensitivity. All observatories will record using MK5A disk systems, with correlation at the Bonn correlator. MK5 disk availability, and VLBA disk-change logistics will determine the fraction of the scheduled time which can be spent recording data. Walter Alef will make a final decision on this when all the constraints have been considered. Polarization ------------ Note that projects GD022C, GK037A and GA022D request dual LHC+RHC recording at observatories where this is possible. General considerations ---------------------- Please contact me (porcas@mpifr-bonn.mpg.de) IMMEDIATELY if you find any mistakes or problems with this version of the schedule.
