Global 3mm VLBI session in April 15-18, 2005 Dear Observatory Staff and Global 3mm VLBI PIs, Please find below Version 1 of the Block Schedule for the coming Global 3mm VLBI session in April. The projects which are scheduled have been approved by the VLBA Scheduler and myself, on the basis of the proposal reviews in Europe and at NRAO. I have done a bit of "micro-scheduling" to indicate when the transition between one source and the next should occur on a telesope-specific basis at the VLBA. This is, however, only for guidance. Thomas Krichbaum will assist in making an integrated observing schedule for the session, and PIs are asked to contact him, to specify to what extent they wish to be involved in the schedule making for the part of the schedule when their source is being observed. Please contact him by 15th MARCH. ********** The final, integrated schedule will be made available to the observatories by 1st APRIL, 2 weeks before the start of the session on 15th APRIL. Antennas -------- The antennas available at the VLBA are indicated on the schedule. Note that VLBA_HN is no longer available but VLBA_BR is has been added. In "Eu" there are Pico Veleta, Plateau de Bure, Effelsberg, Onsala-20m and Metsahovi. Recording mode -------------- All projects will be observed with a recorded bit-rate of 512 Mb/s. At 3mm wavelength, where atmospheric coherence is the main limitation to detection sensitivity, there are clear advantages to all continuum projects in recording at this rate. All European observatories (and we hope also the VLBA) will record using MK5A disk systems, with correlation at the Bonn correlator. Limited disk availability will put some restrictions on the fraction of the scheduled time which can be spent recording data, but this should be at least 25-30 % (e.g. 3 x 5min scans per hour) Polarization ------------ All projects require LHC polarization only, except GA022A which requests dual LHC+RHC recording at observatories where this is possible. General considerations ---------------------- Please contact me (porcas@mpifr-bonn.mpg.de) IMMEDIATELY if you find any mistakes or problems with this version of the schedule.
