1st Announcement

VLBI observations of satellites and other near-field targets have come to the attention of more and more scientists dealing with various different applications of VLBI and DeltaDOR. The research areas are manifold including technical developments for components of scheduling, observations, correlation, and data analysis. VLBI and DeltaDOR observations are well established for solar system spacecraft tracking but just start to be employed for other applications nearer to Earth as well. For example, they may help to improve the ties between the ITRF and the ICRF, as required for the realization of a Global Geodetic Observing System. For this, first VLBI observations of satellites were carried out in recent years. This international workshop is intended to bring together scientists working on topics related to any near-field VLBI observations and to explore current possibilities and future opportunities.

The workshop is sponsored by the IVS Working Group 7: Satellite Observations with VLBI (ivscc.gsfc.nasa.gov) and will be hosted by the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation of the Bonn University, Nussallee 17, D-53115 Bonn, Germany. More information about the program and logistics will be provided in a second announcement in Spring 2016.

We look forward to seeing you in Bonn.

Yours sincerely

Axel Nothnagel, Laura La Porta, Rüdiger Haas
