Travel directions to Bonn

Railway services to Bonn:

Bonn is relatively well connected to many other cities in Germany and neighboring countries by trains. The main railway station (Bonn Hauptbahnhof) is located directly in the city center. Most of the high-speed ICE trains do not stop at Bonn Hauptbahnhof, but at Siegburg/Bonn, in a suburb about 12 km from Bonn downtown, from where you have to use tram line 66 to get to the city center (travel time: ~ 25 minutes, ticket 4ˆ)

From Cologne/Bonn airport to Bonn:

Bus # 670 connects the Cologne/Bonn airport with Bonn central bus and railway station. Busses leave from the airport every 20 to 40 minutes. Travel time is about 30 minutes, the ticket is 6.10ˆ.

From Frankfurt airport to Bonn:

If you arrive in Frankfurt airport (FRA), the best way to get to Bonn is by train. Frankfurt airport has two railway stations; to get to Bonn you have to use the long distance train station ("Fernbahnhof").

There are two different routes from FRA to Bonn. The first possibility is to use hourly InterCity or InterCityExpress trains to Bonn main station ("Hauptbahnhof"). Although this way has the longest travel time (about 1h45m) and for some connections you have to change trains in Mainz, it takes you through the very scenic Rhine valley and you arrive directly in the city center of Bonn. A one-way ticket is about 33 ˆ (second class); tickets can be bought in the travel center at the train station or in the train (slightly more expensive).
The second possibility is to use to the InterCityExpress trains on the new high-speed route to Cologne, to which Bonn is connected via the station "Siegburg/Bonn", in a suburb about 12 km from Bonn downtown. Most trains go directly to Cologne, but one train per hour stops in Siegburg/Bonn. The travel time from FRA to Siegburg/Bonn is 37 minutes, the one-way ticket is about 53 ˆ. From Siegburg you can either take the tram line 66 to Bonn main station ("Hauptbahnhof"; travel time: ~ 25 minutes, ticket 4ˆ) or a taxi.

Another possibility is to go from FRA to Cologne main station and from there back to Bonn (total travel time around 1h40m, one-way ticket: 60ˆ)

Further information on timetables can be found here (enter From: FrankfurtAirport, To: Bonn Hbf).
