Westerbork VLBI report for TOG in Metsahovi Finland at 21 June 2010 ===================================================================== Regular Session Participation: Westerbork participated in the X,M,C and L-band experiments of session 2010-1. Observing was successful. FTP fringe files were produced by the system, and fringes were found on all occasions. Severe RFI on 1610-1634 MHz, gave us again a hard time to phase up the array for that frequency. The TuneUp software for the tied array is now improved to deal with this problem. There were some backend related problems. We lost about 2.5 hours recording time. e-VLBI: Westerbork performed well during e-VLBI observations. e-VLBI was done using TADUmax and Mark5B Minor problems were caused by an airco failure and a power outage. Tied Array: The fully digital tied array hardware (TADUmax)has been used. In general it performed well. We had some intermittent problems with a TAAM (Tied Array Adding Module) board, in the first subband unit. It was decided to swap this board with the one from the last subband unit. After some repairs it is now performing well. Single Dish: The 5cm single dish sessions were done using TADUmax and mark5B. (selecting only RT7) This combination performed well. SNR was ok. Field System: The session was done using FS-Linux 7 and FS9.10.3. No problem occurred. We have setup a laptop as spare FS-system. It operates under FS-Linux 8. (Lenny + FS9.10.4) Mark5B: OK. We only recorded Pata diskpacks The DIMINO version is: Mark5B DIM : 2007y222d04h : 1 : mark5-710 : 1 : 1 : 2.7x : 0x1b : 0x5bdb The Linux version is: Etch 2.6.18-6-686:(Debian 2.6.18.dfsg.1-23):(dannf@debian.org) The firmware version is: 12.05 During the session the red TVR LED was lit for part of the time. The JIVE correlator revealed no problems for this data, so we can ignore it. Other: All e-VLBI observations were executed by remote control. (from the Dwingeloo controlroom, home and the Jive control room.) The normal sessions were done by the operators in shifts on the WSRT site. There is differences between SEFD found in the EVN status table and the SEFD actually measured. It is due to the decreasing number of telescope (12 most of the time) and maintenance problems. We are actually working on it. 20 May 2010 Geert kuper, Nicolas Pradel
