EVN e-VLBI report ================= Current status: -------------- Now connected: Mc, On, Tr, Wb, Jb, Cm at 1 Gbps Ar at 155 Mbps Connectivity: -Ar limited to 64 Mbps (at best) -128 Mbps is routinely achieved from all European stations. -256 Mbps is mostly possible, although not always from Tr. -512 Mbps is mostly possible from Wb and On, sometimes Jb. Mixed test/science e-VLBI runs are now scheduled at regular intervals throughout the year. e-VLBI operations at stations and correlator have been greatly streamlined and simplified. Issues with robustness remain. A motherboard upgrade of one Mark5 at Jb has made 512 Mbps data transfer from Jb possible for the first time. Last week: first ever real-time fringes to Mc (at 128 Mbps) Near future: ----------- The upgrades from Surfnet5 to Surfnet6 (production network in Dwingeloo already connected, e-VLBI fibre next) and from Geant to Geant2 are ongoing, opening the way for dedicated lambda-switched lightpaths to the telescopes. Connection to Mh expected soon. The EXPReS project has now officially started, several positions have been advertised.
