Station report for Effelsberg (Jun 2005) ============================= - Most observations during the last session went smoothly (despite some problems with the formatter, which could be replaced quickly by the EVN spare formatter - thanks to the Medicina team for providing prompt help). Again, the majority of experiments ran on the MK4/MK5-terminal. However, between the sessions, we participate regularly on VLBA+EB (including HSA) observations; these run on the VLBA-terminal. Additionally, in April, Effelsberg observed within the Global mm VLBI Network (using MK4/MK5). - Dave Graham constructed an IF switchbox which was implemented before the June session and used throughout without problems. For details see http://www.mpifr-bonn.mpg.de/EVN/ifsw.html. - The project 'new subreflector' for the 100m-telescope is progressing es expected. The design phase is coming to an end, construction should start soon. The new secondary mirror with active surface, improved focus drive, and better frequency agility to be installed in summer 2006. - The water-vapour radiometer, mounted on prime-focus cabin, is in frequent operation. A web-based interface to the data on a SQL server is under development. - The geodetic GPS receiver is in continuous operation. The data is available on request. - The generic VLBI account for Effelsberg (evlbi@mpifr-bonn.mpg.de) will soon be closed. Please address all requests directly either to Axel Jessner (ajessner@mpifr-bonn.mpg.de) or Alex Kraus (akraus@...).
