Torun Station Report for TOG (2004 March 31) Personnel Changes ----------------- None. Brief Report of Last EVN Sessions -------------------------------- The November 2003 session was a failure at Tr due to recorder problem (see below). In the February 2004 session no problems reported from Tr, however correlation of both the NME (C and L band) tapes produced no fringes from the second headstack. Logistics Problems Encountered Since Last TOG Meeting ----------------------------------------------------- No problems in this category. Technical Problems Encountered Since Last TOG Meeting ----------------------------------------------------- Our aged H-maser after the June 2003 failure, recovered in October and contunues to keep good short term stability (on a scale of a few days). On longer time scales it however indicates ubnormal behaviour (reversed aging). In October 2003, shortly before the session, troubles begun with the P+G recorder, which seemed to be related to the upper drive servo mechanism. Despite serious efforts (involving also a help from JIVE), the recorder could not be repaired until early December. Then the problem was diagnosed to lie in the Tacho Amp Circuit within the capstan motor. The circuit gave too weak or missing output pulses. The repair required dismounting of the capstan unit and adjusting the amplification of the circuit. The February session revealed a new problem: recordings done with the second headstack give no fringes. Reason is still unknown. Changes/Upgrades Made to Hardware/Software ------------------------------------------ Rack number of the Mk4 unit changed in July, 2003 using the kit provided by Dan Smythe at the Robledo TOG. A rubidium frequency standard module purchased late 2003. Current FS version is 9.6.9. A high throughput fiber link (two lines, 1 Gbit/s each) between Tr control room and JIVE has been configured. It was first tested on February 24 using the FTP protocol. Any Other Comments ------------------ Mk5 unit has been ordered from Conduant in March 2004.
