Previous: Review of the TWG Up: Introduction & Minutes of last meeting
J.D. Bregman reviewed recent progress with the EC Correlator Project. A contract for Station Units (SU) had recently been awarded to Penny and Giles. There was strong interest in the Penny and Giles playback units but nothing had been decided. The design of the correlator chip would be finalised after the chip for Arecibo had been evaluated. Specific responisibilities for each of the participating parties was being defined. No new information was available regarding the construction of a new building at Dwingeloo to house the correlator and JIVE personel. H.S. Sanghera gave details of a recent JIVE hardware purchase which included two HP workstations (a 715, a 735), two X-terminals, 2 Gbtyes of disk space and one (possibly two) DAT drives. These will be used for off-line VLBI data analysis. The current 9.6 kbaud line will be updated to a kilostream link in October. JIVE will support all the standard data reduction software packages: AIPS, CITvlb, and Difmap. Maria Rioja would shortly be joining the Bonn correlator group for a year.
