P. Burgess considered what the role of the TWG should be given the establishment of the Joint Institute for VLBI in Europe (JIVE). The general feeling was that the TWG must continue in its present form until such time as the JIVE management structure became clearer. It was believed that a forum such as this ought always to exist in order that the people who were responsible for making the EVN work in practice (the Technical/Observing friends) could meet and discuss common problems/solutions.
