Appendix 6: Feedback from the Caltech correlator

After correlating almost 5 days of the experiment (GW10 observed from June 9-16, 1993) we now know considerably more about the performance of the various stations. All information applies only to the 6 cm GW10 experiment for which Dave and I are responsible. Steve Unwin will eventually be able to supply you with information about the performance of the EVN stations at other wavelengths.

Bonn: worked great. (reference antenna)

Bologna: worked great. (clock at start=+7.11 us, rate=+0.12 us/day)

Noto: worked great. (+28.55 us, +0.12 us/day)

Onsa: fine, some tape playback problems (-0.43 us, -0.05 us/day)

Westerbork: ok, some serious playback problems affecting 10% of the run. (-20.36 us, -1.1 us/day)

Jodrell Mk2: worked great. (-0.61 us, -0.05 us/day)

Cambridge: No fringes. Some intermittent weak fringes at the end of the run, perhaps indicating that the oscillator was unlocked. (-959.45 us, ? us/day)

NRAO 140ft: no fringes found from June 9-16, reason unknown

VLBA_SC: no fringes found from June 9-16, reason unknown

VLBA_MK: formatter error, no fringes found from June 9-16

VLBA_OV: failed one day due to various problems. (-6.83 us, -0.05 us/day)

VLBA_HN: worked great. (+0.90 us, -0.06/day)

VLBA_PT: worked great. (+4.09 us, -0.04/day)

VLBA_NL: worked great. (-10.86 us, -0.05 us/day)

VLBA_BR: worked great. (+3.57 us, -0.035 us/day)

VLA: worked great. (0.38 us, 0 us/day)

Bear Lakes: no audio signal on any tape from June 9-16.

Evpatoria: no fringes found from June 9-16, reason unknown

Simiez: Some equipment malfunctions during the run, but the telescope produces good data 50% of the time. There were also several occasions when the time on the tape was off by 1-6 hours. The clock for Simiez was 3.7 microsec with a steady drift of 0.32 microsec/day.
