Post-processing of Cal data

Spencer asked if we should adopt the ANCAL standard for calibration data. Porcas noted that this would not be adopted by the VLBA. Schilizzi felt that we needed to discuss with the VLBA what type of format should be adopted. Junor reported that this was still not clear. Schilizzi noted that it would be useful if the VLBA could circulate a discussion document on this topic. Schilizzi volunteered to act as a contact person with the VLBA until operation staff were appointed. Alef noted that it was not only a question of format. The important point was the way in which calibration measurements would be made. There were hardware issues to consider. Junor reported that the VLBA felt that the EVN should have continuous calibration in each channel. Porcas drew the groups attention to a document written by Bill Cotton regarding polarization calibration.

ACTION ITEM: R.T.Schilizzi to liaise with VLBA on calibration methods/data format.
