Using
the 26-m single-antenna telescope of the DRAO a new survey of
linear polarization (Stokes U and Q) of
the northern sky at a frequency of 1.4 GHz has been carried out. The
angular resolution is 36 arc min. The data are absolutely
calibrated and corrected for ground radiation.
Observations
were carried out by drift scanning the sky
between +90 and -29 degree declination. With
an integration time of 60 s per 15 arc min interval in R.A., a bandwidth
of 12 MHz, and a system temperature of about 158 K the
rms-noise in U and Q is 12 mK. The total sky coverage is
41.7%. Stokes U and Q maps are available for research and
education.
